Glazing The i.g. glass panes or lites installed in the sash or frame of a window. The i.g. glass is back-bedded with a special glazing material.
Grilles (GBG) Ornamental bars or cross-bars which appear to divide the lights of glass. Generally made of aluminum or of a high-end plastic type material that installed by the manufacture in the inside of the i.g. glass. They are called, "GBG", i.e., grilles between the glass.
House Wrap A weather resistant barrier (WRB) house wrap, supplied by others. Pennco recommends following the "House Wrap" manufacturers installation instructions to seal the wrap around windows/doors.
Installation of windows / doors Always review and follow the manufacturers' factory installation instructions. Generally, installation instructions are located on the window sticker of each window and door.
Interlock Extruded in top rail of rail of bottom sash, and inside meeting rail; allows full interlock of sash at meeting rails.
Jambs Side jambs are vertical members of the window frame, and a head jamb is the horizontal member across the top.
Low-E glass Low-E stands for "low emissivity." Low-E is a film or metallic coating on the glass that reduces radiant heat transfer through the glass. The lower the emissivity the lower the heat allowed to be radiated and the higher the reflector (re-radiation).
Meeting Rail A horizontal hollow (steel reinforced) extrusion in a single hung; screw fastened, water tight sealed and mortised into the side frames of the window.
